In recent issues of this magazine, there has been discussion about the best paint to use to depict US World War II Olive Drab. I have been digging through the archives over the past few years to try to solve, Military Modelling Magazine has an excellent article by Steve Zaloga on getting the ‘right’ color of Olive Drab, originally published in 2002, available at the linked page. The November/December 1998 issue of Military Vehicles Magazine carries in-depth information on painting in general and camo pattern painting in particular along with tips on canvas care and maintenance.

5/16/2013  · As the scale gets smaller I increase the ratio of field drab to OD. For 1/35 I mix it 3:1 OD to Field Drab . I use 2:1 for 1/48 and 1:1 for 1/72. Your results may vary. I find that the field drab effectively cuts the green of modern 34087. In acrylic, I use Vallejo Luftwaffe Brown Violet, which gives a slightly darker, less faded OD. Just my .02 …

1/6/2017  · Steve Zaloga describes Scale Olive Drab as Tamiya Olive Drab XF62 lightened with Tamiya Dark Yellow XF60. I’ve looked around and can’t find the proper mixing ratio one should use. Would a 2 parts Olive Drab to 1 part Dark Yellow be about right? If one wanted to use a 3 shade technique with the following mixes would it be reasonable?
